Windows Movie Maker (for Windows computers)
Depending on which Windows OS you are using, you may already have Movie Maker on your computer. If not, it is a free download. People running Windows Vista will use Movie Maker 6.0. Windows 7 users will download Windows Live Movie Maker.
Note: Many people prefer the "older" version of Movie Maker (2.6) to Windows Live Movie Maker. Here is a link that includes a download and directions for how to install 6.0 on your 7.0 computer. ASU is not suggesting or advocating that you do this, but rather providing a resource in case you'd like to investigate further and make your own informed decision. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15TMjpM8QCc

Xtranormal (online application)
Xtranormal is a tool that allows you to choose backgrounds and characters to create a "movie" with scripted dialogue. This is a free tool but some of the options may require fees. You will want to explore Xtranormal before it becomes your tool of choice to make sure it will work for your digital story project.
You may have seen videos made using Xtranormal. Recently there have been many satire videos created about... just about everything under the sun. You can google and find some examples. I had a hard time finding one to post here with all clean language.
